Illustrator/Laser/Vinyl
Illustrator is a computer software where you can draw and sketch. You can also do way more than that. You can add text and have the text cut out or engraved. You can also add pictures and have them engraved. This is all on the laser. On the vinyl side you can create multiple colored images and cut them out on the vinyl cutter. Illustrator is kind of like Inventor, you design a dream on the computer and it comes alive.
Key chain
Above is my keychain file in Illustrator after designing it. Let's go through a step by step on how to make one of these.
Step 1: Open the Illustrator Software
Step 2: Follow directions on hand out set the landscape dimensions to 2.75 x 1.75 inches. MAKE SURE IT'S ON INCHES. Then click create
Step 3: Next select the rectangle tool and hold shift and create a square that takes up half of the landscape the long way and the full height.
You don't want those sharp edges poking you in your pocket so...
Step 4: Make the edges curves by clicking on the blue target right inside one of the corners. Set it to whatever feels right for you
Step 5: Adjust the settings at the top until they look like this
Step 6: Use the ellipse tool to make a circle with .2 as the dimensions. Position this circle at the top left of your square.
That's your basic outline done! Next we are going to add text and a picture
Step 7: Click on text on the left side and add some wherever you'd like. Then type what you want and on the right click on create outlines. This made our text a series of shapes so it can actually engrave it.
Next we are gonna add a picture
Step 8: Go to google and google a black and white picture clip art. Choose one but it CAN'T have the png background. Paste it into your square.
There we go now we are done with your keychain!
Here's my key chain printed out
Next is the Vinyl Decal. To the right is the file of all of the names that were printed out. Then we applied them to our designer notebook. Let's go through a step by step process.

Now that our vinyl decal is on the tape we can put it on the surface we want to!
