All projects start with an idea. Good or bad they all start with some sort of thought. For my project I wanted to project my love of baseball. I wanted to do a blue jays logo at first, that was my first original idea. Then I decided to switch to the official MLB logo. Why? I feel like the official logo portrays everyone in the major leagues, not just shining on one team. After designing and printing on the cutter, the idea is now a reality.
I started by finding an MLB image online. I put it into Illustrator and the I hit Image Trace, and 3 colors. It changed the image a little bit to make sure it was 3 colors. Then I separated each of the parts by grouping and ungrouping them.
Vinyl Printing: Files all loaded in well, and here are the images of applying the decal
In this Vinyl rotation I learned a lot. I learned a lot more on how to use Illustrator. More specifically I learned how to separate parts of images, which is really useful. I also learned how to use a 3 color image instead of a black and white one. I didn't just learn in Illustrator though. I learned a lot about the Vinyl cutter. The way I learned was through failure. I failed a lot trying to even load the decal in. I also struggled with the file and actually sending it to the vinyl cutter. But I think the best way to learn is to fail over and over until you understand. In conclusion I learned a lot about Vinyl and decal during this rotation, and I look forward to learning more.
